tpi stabilizer bar?

I think this only comes in the tpi thirdgens but its a brace or rod with a whole on each end that connects the fender to the bottom windshield brace/body, right near the hinge. Sorry i dont know exact term or have a picture but if anyone has one i'd like it.

Thanks,
Timinsk

Re: tpi stabilizer bar?

Those only came on 82-84/85(i think), then were discontinued as they were just another item on the car that GM could eliminate & save weight.

Considering the advances in unibody bonding, I doubt the cars lost any strength by losing it.

For what it's worth:

Brace, Fdr to Upr Cowl. GM 14074745. 82-92.

BTW, my LG4 was equipped with the brace. The junk yards should be full of them.

There's a second brace, if you're unaware, that you might be interested in:

Re: tpi stabilizer bar?

So are either brace really worth it? or was it just a THOUGHT by the engineers that it might help but they realized its more money than help to have?..

Re: tpi stabilizer bar?

They're found on later models as well, just an FYI. (Not just 82-85)

Re: tpi stabilizer bar?

I have both braces if you are interested. pm me your zip and email and I will send you pics and a price shipped.

As far as I look at it, they were put there for a reason and these cars flex like crazy.
