LO3 swap to LG4, whats the scoop?
Hey all
I might get my hands on a LG4 for engine swap to replace my excuse my french.. ****ed 88 (L03 305 V8). Its the only engine I can get my hands on. And its a very good deal.
So people, plz whats the scoop?
easy swap? hard swap?
its TBI right?
so it would just slide right in?!

Tas got it, LG4 is carb'd. Swap should be easy enough, I've never done it, but you should just be able to disconnect the computer stuff and go! I could be wrong tho!!

hey
well I took my friend over to check it out
its a 82 Berlintta. its pretty cool to tell you the truth.
yeah its got a 305 Carbed V8... ahh
My friend says its pointless to even think about it.
He says its extremely hard to do a swap from TBI to Carb.
he siad I would blow at least another 500-1000 cdn. $$ on just getting it in there..
This sounds a little B.s!

I don't think thats true. If it was, why does everyone on here that switches from TBI to carb say they did it to save money??? Something doesn't add up.
might as well put tbi on the lg4 long block
and i would not even waste my time with that motor if i were you. BTW about your friend... dont listen to him hes smoking dope

oh m f'in g*d........please don't listen to him. And he thinks it would be more expensive to chage to carb from tbi? Wow, walk away from him dude, NOW!!!
If you have the whole car, it won't be expensive at all. The only time you really run into huge expenses in any swap is when you're missing nickle and dime stuff. Also, swapping to CCC isn't the same as just a regular ol' carb.
Depending on what's wrong with your LO3, why not just use the shortblock from it instead of the whole motor?
And on a side note: it would be pretty cool to have a motor that could run on propane and then switch to gas when you want to make some power.
