Newbie question about harnesses...
I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but here we go. I have an 87 bird, with a 305 and 700R4 with 3.23's. I'm doing a 350 swap with a t56. I have two questions for anybody that might be able to help.
First, is it hard to install the new wiring harness and computer, or is it a snap? Are there any books that might help me in the installation, like a Haynes manual or anything like that? Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.
Second, by the end of the summer I should have my Bird put back together after all the mods I plan on doing. From a mechanical standpoint, I'm swapping the 305 for a 350, 700R4 for T56, new cam, new heads (not sure which ones yet), Hooker headers, 52 or 56 mm throttle body, and gonna port the plenum and runners. With all these mods, what gear should I pick? Should I stick with the 3.23's or go to something like 4.10's? This is just the brief list of mods, I plan on doing a lot to it this summer.
P.S. the best mod of all, I just got a new vanity plate:

Pretty much says it all in those seven letters...

What "new computer"?
What "new harness"?
What induction are you running?
What year is your car?
Gears depend upon cam (primarily - whole package gets involved) and intended use. If you're primarily driving it, 3.42's are a good compromise. 3.73's should be fine, too. 4.10's would probably get old if driven extensively on the street, especially at highway speeds, unless you have a really high-RPM-oriented cam with no low-end grunt.
