Motor Swap update...
I just got done putting my 1971 350 into my 84 Trans Am, and I am pretty impressed. With the XE262 cam and the headers, it now sounds awesome flowing through that Hooker cat-back. My only gripe is the lack of low end power with the 350 (still has more than the LG4, but man once this motor revs above 2800, its a whole new animal) and the low shiftpoints in the 700R4. This was a pretty direct swap, probably taking around 18 hours or so to complete. I havent exactly been able to test it much on the ground with our recent rain, but I tested it on a little stretch that I mark one post to another, its around 200 feet or so.
Camaro w/2.8: 31 mph
Trans Am w/mildly modded 305: 46mph (launched as hard as I could on perfect dry road)
Trans Am w/mild 350: 59 mph (babied on launch on wet road, Honestly beleive i can hit 65 with it on a nice dry road.)
It is definetly faster than before, but I need to work on the low end. I have 3.23 gears, and I think a torque converter is my next mod.

thats wierd no low end with that cam. I think Comp advertises a 1200-5500rpm powerband with that cam, specially with those gears you should do real good.
My friend has an 82 grand prix with a 350, 2:41 gears, and the X/E262, and it has excellent low end torque. and thats with a t-350tranny.
