Do I have to remove the torque arm?
Do I have to remove the torque arm?
Alright guys I am in the middle of pulling the motor and transmission out of my car.So far I have the radiator out,all the accesories off (altenator etc etc)Motor moutn bolts loose, drive shaft out, exhaust off.But now I need to take the transmission loose from the crossmember and torque arm.
Do I have to remove the torque arm?My dad said he has taken the the trans out of a third gen and U don't have to.But to me it looks like I have to.
Any tricks to this?
Thanks

Well guys I got the engine and tranny out in 4 hours. That is working be myself and including cleanup time.Beat my time by 3 hours and that was with another person and the alot of use with the sawzall.
I just unbolted the torque arm mount with the bushing in it and picked up the motor and tranny a little bit with the cherry picker and it popped right out. From then it was pretty smotth sailing.Of course everything got caught on everything.
Now it is time to clean the engine bay and Redo the suspension, interior, and brakes. And then get ready for a big block!Yup this is going to be fun.To bad I still have to fix my truck and my 4-wheeler.
Well another day is done.
