Determine Stroke
How can I determine the stroke of my engine since I already have the Oil Pan off. Just out of curiosity I would like to verify the stroke of my engine. The piston and crank has been install in the block, heads torque to specification, and the head are on the engine.

Do I look up the casting number on the Crank the Main Cap Journal itself.

Look up the # on the crank.
And you don't have to rotate anything. Just measure from the center of one rod journal to the one directly opposite of it.
Since they're 180* from each other, they will both be exactly were the other one was after the crank is rotated.

BTW,
If you get about 3 1/4", then it's a 3.25" stroke and was used in a 327 and in the 307.
3 1/2" and it's a 350, 305, 267 crank.
3 3/4" and it's a 400 crank.
I didn't know it you knew that, so I thought I'd throw it in.
There is the 3" stroke but that was only used in the 265, 283, and 302. Those are old engines and I doubt you have that crank. And then there's the 3.1" stroke that was used in the supper crappy 262 in the mid 70's. I hope you don't have that.
