Thanks Guys
Hi all. I just wanted to say that this an awesome board. I recently acquired a 1987 Trans Am with the anemic 305 and after reading all this good stuff on swapping in a later model Lt1, I'm going to do it.
Either I'm missing something or maybe just misunderstanding but I do have some questions...when swapping in the Lt1, do I reuse the original AC compressor or should I use the one thats already on the Lt1?
Also, does anyone have the part number for the fuel pump from Jegs or Summit.
I've had a few Trans Am's and a Formula over the years and have done mostly bolt on stuff so this is going to be my first time getting into something this involved. I've had a '79, '81, '95 and '99. They are all gone and I probably wouldn't have bought the '87 if I didn't get it so cheap.
I've never been so pumped up about a car as I am about this project.
One more thing...Just a poll from you that have done the swap and also put in a 6 speed...what gears are you running and hows your gas mileage?
