PLeas Please emergency help

I just tried to install my cam in my new motor and I see that the cam is hitting the rods. I have an 89 roller block 350 stroked to 383 and I am using Eagle I beam rods. I am using the HOT cam. Someone please help, I just paid 3,750 for parts and I have been saving for two years to do this and I am all out of money. I thought others had run this combination?? Someone please help. Thanks John

I thought only the H beams fit w/o grinding? Maybe a small circle cam? It might be cheaper to buy new cam, rollers, pushrods then to break the block down, grind rods, rebalance and reassemble.

be grateful you found it now rather than later

you need to get a small base circle cam, the one you have now will not work, 383's and 400's need the small base circle

I've heard people talk about small base circle cams. Could someone please explain that to me? Does that just mean smaller lift. And what is the biggest that will work?

Lift is the difference between the radii of the heel and lobe. With a small base circle, the heel is a shorter radius, so the lobe is also shorter, and it can all clear the rods.

I went back to my machine shop and it was 4 o'clock and they were closing at 5. The owner let me remove the rods and he just radiused the corner of one to see if it would work and it did. He then stayed an hour after closing time on a Friday and finished all the rods for me. He proceeded to charge me nothing for the modifications. Anyone in Cleveland area is strongly urged to visit Victory racing engines. The prices are reasonable and the customer service is the best I have ever recieved in my life.
