1996 Block Question

I am unfamiliar with the newer blocks, because I have only used the older ones. A buddy of mine has a 1996 roller block out of a Truck, is this going to work with 1987 TPI equipment? If it is that would be great. What are the changes in these? Is there reverse cooling in this block? Help is greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance...

1996 was the first year for vortec. If it has the heads on it still, he'll need to get the special vortec TPI lower manifold. Vortec truck engines should have roller cams. No reverse flow cooling.
