92 305 block, 88 iroc, and older crank...
will this work and what problems will i run into?
the 92 block is very low milage, under 10k so it may not have to be bored just honed?
it had a bad crank it in, i can get a crank from and OLDER 305 motor, probably back in the 70s...
the heads from the 88 iroc are fine but i dont know if the will bolt to the newer block, and if not will my TPI bolt to the 92 heads
whats the best combo here...
will the block fit in my car, will the crank fit the old block, and can i use my old heads?
thanks in advance

Do you know exactly what is wrong with the crank?
You can fit an older, two-piece rear main seal crank in a newer, one-piece block with an adapter. You'll also need a different flexplate. Between the costs of those items, you could probably get a proper one-piece crank and bearings and put it in. going through the trouble of putting an older crank in just doesn't make much sense.
There are no differences between the '88 and '92 heads and block - as far as bolting to each other or the TPI goes, that is. If either of the heads are from a TBI engine, though, you don't want to use them.
