My 283 w/ 430hp 450 TQ
Here is the proof: I will eat them 383./350 for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner:
What kind of power adder are you using? because not even a 305 can make 430HP without a power adder, at least, not without huge CR's and top of the line $$$$ parts. since you dont have the cubes, id like to know how you've done it.
You guys are looking at a picture and saying it can't be that powerfull, what do you know ?
By the way a 305 can make 400+hp without power adder.

This post is a bunch of monkey-spank and flame bait...
That is an experimental DOHC motor built in about 63 by Zora Arkus-Duntov himself. The development project was never even actually completed, because they found it was so expensive. None of it ever made it into production. The claims made for it are of no real-world significance at all.
And you're right, a 305 can do that... once. That particular magazine article gets quoted around here regularly. What everyone seems to forget is that the motor blew up on the dyno so they don't have any track times for it. Personally that doesn't sound like a road I really want to go down with my own money (the magazine writers don't have to worry about that you know).

The engine is still on my engine stand and I should be in my Z28 within the next month. Right now im working on the rear end with Spohn LCA & Panhard Rod. Im not really a track guy and I just done this for Sh%ts and Giggles to see can a 283 be brought back to life with some modification. Everyone always have so much negative to say about the little bugger, so I just took it a step further and the negative support is still there. Good thing we have such a STRONG military and you guys are not Generals, because morale will be real low within your command. Never looking for the positive, however you can always can find a fault or negative thought with a open MIND!!!
