My IROC has 150k plus miles on it and I'm kinda worried about how long it will last, what with college next year. A friend of mine has a 305 TBI engine from an RS sitting in his garage...would I just be able to switch blocks (and maybe some other equipment if its good) and just throw on my TPI setup? Were the TPI and TBI blocks identical?

 

the 305 will fit in its entirety, the intake face on the tpi should be the same. The 305 will be way down on power, though. Those engines only put out around 170 HP. I would swap the tpi ehads over to the lo3 because those heads suck big time.

 

If its running fine, I would just leave it alone. I almost made it through college on my 305, but it had problems before I started going to school and only missed finishing it by about 6 months. It had about 160k on it when I pulled it.
