l98 manifolds on lt-1??

Im leaving for school soon so i dont have to much money to through mods on the cars. Basically i need it to run good and that is all. I will slowly but surly be moding this car but nothing drastic. (cai, maf, tb, afpr, 1.6rr, hooker long tubes, full suspension) I cant wait till i can have that stuff on the car as of right now i need to save as much money as possible. Will my l98 manifolds fit on the lt-1? I need to put my l98 manifolds so my old exhaust will bolt right up. I know most of you are using headers now but if any of you have done this please let me in on the info. Thanks
Bobby

Yes they should work fine. Many people use L98 headers on their LT1 swaps.

Hahahaha, bad bad idea, yes they will bolt up to the motor, and it will run, but, they will SEVRELY hurt the performance, take an LT1 exhaust manifold gasket and put it up against an L98 manifold with the bolt holes lining up and see how much of the port it covers, you'll be rather shocked.

Thanks for the help guys, like i said this will only be temporary. I lined the l98 manifolds up against the lt-1 manifolds and it turns out that the l98s has a bigger port, i dont know why. I figured Z28racer would know the lt-1s are bigger but in THIS case the l98's are bigger. Its a 89 l98 and a 96 lt-1. I will only use these car a short time then i will buy some hooker long tubes to through onit. thanks agian guys.

Well part of the reason the L98's are bigger is because they have a rectangular port, where the LT1 has a "D" shaped port. Your performance will be hurt but if it is only temporary I wouldnt worry about it.

You are correct about the ports. Its going to suck for a while but that just means i get to feel a big difference when i put the long tubes on. The manifold are on the car right now, they take up alot less room then the lt1 manifolds do. thanks for the help guys.

I didnt say the LT1 had a larger port, I said when you put them on the L98 manifolds cover part of the LT1 port due to them being lower, take a set of your L98 exhaust gaskets and line them up with a set of LT1's and see what happens on the curved side of the port.
