good modification plan?

First off, I know that doing what i plan to do to a normal 1990 3.1 firebird is not cost effective, but i love this car, so no please.

Modifications planned:
-gm 350 ramjet engine with T56 6 speed transmission
-Ram air style hood and 4th generation wing
-aftermarket wheels and car audio
-T-top conversion
-a couple of 4th gen interior items, such as leather seats
- Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system
Will the ramjet engine fit under the stock and/or ram air hood?

This car has about 136,000 miles, but with a new engine (or at least rebuilt) and transmisssion, it should last a long time, hopefully

Any advice and criticism will be considered

That engine might fit under a camaro hood, but I don't give you good odds with a firebird.

If you get tops cut into the car you absolutely have to get subframe connectors first. They are also a good idea anyway as I have seen stock tpi engines crack the quarters on coups.

Put a rear end on the list too.

Also put on aftermarket tach, speedo, oil press, water temp, volts, etc. Unless you can get a V8 cluster that plugs in. I don't know the specifics if that actually works or not.

As long as you're at it add headers and exhaust to the list.

Also needed is a new suspension front to back. Stock sus really sucks and V6 springs won't hold up the SB very well.

After that you'll probably be running fast enough to start looking into a cage if you race.

That's all I can think of right now

I'm not sure I agree with all of those statements/recommendations. Not sure I'd go with a Ram Jet, either, but assuming you go through with that (and assuming you don't have emissions to worry about):

I doubt it will fit under any stock hood. Cowl induction-type is sure to be required.

I'll agree with the need for subframe connectors, and recommend against the t-tops (cute, but not a good mod performance- and trouble-wise).

The rear doesn't need anything that you wouldn't have to do to any other 3rd gen rear. You can beef up a 10-bolt to handle this power just fine, or if you're really into it, go with a 9-bolt or aftermarket-modified 12-bolt (we wouldn't consider a 9" since we're keeping it all GM, right?).

The only gage you need to change is the tach, and all you need there is a V8-version of your model/year. Everything else will work fine.

Exhaust is a must. Heads to rear bumper, put in some good stuff (what you have now is all scrap metal as far as this project is concerned).

Suspension upgrades (springs, poly bushings, sway bars, boxed control arms) - yes.

The Ram Jet 350 is only rated at 350 HP. There're L98's making a bunch more power than that out there (305's making as much, for that matter). How can that be fast enough to warrant a cage?

Audio?

You're right about the cage. Probably don't need one. I'm just really paranoid about safety myself. Slamming into a concrete wall at 100+ mph just doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Even less fun in a stock body car. Just MO.

I think the ramjet should fit?

My friend has a 350 ramjet put into a stock 6 cylinder RS Camaro and he has a regular stock steel hood. It fits fine and the hood closes with no problems. But thats in an RS Camaro not a Firebird.

Thats just what I know hope it helps
