starter, and flywheel question

i am in the process of swapping a 350 in where my lg4 305 is, and i have heard from many that say i need to reuse the 305 flywheel..... heres the question. i bought a mini starter for the 350 block (which has the staggered bolt pattern) they guy said it was for the 350 flywheel. will this starter work or what?

What year is your new 350? If it has a 1 piece rear main seal, you WILL need a new flywheel. But if it has a two piece, you should find out if it is a 153 tooth or 168 tooth cause I'm not sure which one the F-bodys got in 84. The 153 is just about 13 inches and the 168 is just over 14 inches if I remember correctly so you don't have to go counting teeth. Once you find out which one you have, just make sure the starter is for the one that you have, that is if you're putting a 2 piece rear main seal motor back in.

You should be looking for a 153-tooth flywheel for a 3rd gen.

Saying a starter is for a "350 flywheel" means next to nothing, since there were a bunch of combinations out there. What you need to know are what mount bolt pattern and size flywheel it's for.

I can't speak about the auto trans cars but if you have a 5 speed there is no question about it, you have the straight pattern starter.
