Engine casting #
Can someone please tell me where I can locate the engine/engine casting ID numbers on my 1987 5.7 L98
engine block. I am ready to order a crate engine and they
need the numbers to verify I am getting the correct replacement
engine. I have been told the numbers are on the backside of
the engine just below the drivers side head. I've looked all
across the backside of the engine but I don't see any numbers.

Engine: 406
Transmission: 700r4 (for now)
They should be there...the drivers side, just about where the bellhosing connects...hard to almost ompossible to see with the motor in the car.
