What type of rotating assembly is better. They both are cast/ steel and consist of rods and crankshaft...

This is a email that I got from WWW.Gofaststuff.com for a 400 rotating assembly what do yall think... good price for the items listed or continue to shop.
They suggest going with a SRP forged piston, this is a flat top piston and would only be 10.2:1 with a 74 cc head. 6" Eagle SIR bushed rods, the Eagle 400 cast steel crank, plasma moly rings & Clevite bearings for $1025 shipped to your door.
Thank you!

Well, the machinist that built my 406 used an Eagle rotating assemby. I don't know how good, or fast it is yet, as I don't have it fired up yet. But my machinist builds a LOT of circle track and quarter mile stuff, and he swears by it....

What compression ratio do you have, what type of heads CC, your basic plan for that engine. If you dont mind me asking what did the rotating kit cost.
Thanks
Thanks
Well, I had a machinist build it like I said. I can't remember exactly what he told me the compression ratio is.....I think it's like 9 1/2, or 10:1. I am using flat top SRP pistons.....
As far as heads go, he got the Pro Action 220cc Iron lightning series heads for it. I completely left the building up to the machinist, as he is the expert. I just told him that I wanted upwards of 500+ HP on pump gas. Allegedly (cause it ain't fired up yet) it's supposed to have 550, or better, but we'll see.
Also, I may have to run some of this racing additive, called C12, or C6? I never heard of it, but this will be my first "true" hot rod.
My basic plan for this engine? Beat every mustang I see, of course!! You see, every time I took and drove this car, somebody would ALWAYS pull up beside me and want to race. Well, the 305tpi was ok, but not too fast. I got sick of it, and said to heck with it, I've had a small block 400 (Just a bare 2 bolt block) sitting in my storage since 1985. I always wanted to get it built. Originally I was going to get a Monza(sort of like a Vega), but I came across this Iroc, and that was all she wrote!!
I'll tell you what the rotating kit cost, but bear in mind, the machinist orded it, and so he probably got a lot better deal than you or I could get. On top of that, you know he probably raped me on what the actual cost of what it was.... All I can tell you is that he charged me $1,489 for the assembly. Like I said, with SRP pistons, and 6" rods (chrome-moly?) Not sure, he told me all of this stuff, but that's been 3 months ago. It's been sitting at the shop waiting for them to bolt it all together, and now it's finally at the final stage......I'm having radiator problems(finding one that will fit right, and cool it good enough)
As for the rest of it. I got a turbo 400 transmission built (good enough for up to 7-900 HP) as I told the transmission shop that maybe in 2 or 3 years if I come up with the money, I might stick a blower on there. I know, the engine will have to be redone for that..... And then I got a custom built torque converter, that was built specifically to match up the engine. He called the machinist and got all the cam specs, heads, and all the technical stuff.
And then I was going to put a 12 bolt rearend in there with some good gears, but I was at a swap meet in January, and ran across a 9" housing that bolts right up for 3rd gen at a good price, so I got it along with 31 spline axles. And then I got some 4:56 gears for it, and I can't remember what kind of locker I got, I'd have to dig up the receipt. I know it's NOT a detroit locker though....
And yes, I had subframe connectors welded in (Spohn) and a 8pt roll bar put in (s&w race cars)
Top it off with a B&M megashifter that fits right into the console, and some mechanical gauges. I got them mounted under the A/C-Heater vent right in about the middle of the dash. I don't like the pillar post pod thingies..........
Now all I need, once I get it fired up, is to somehow get some racing seat belts hooked up in there. The guy that did my roll bar didn't advise me that I would need some tabs welded on my roll bar to hook belts up to.....
And then find the fattest meat that will fit on the rear, along with some decent wheels. I like the BF goodrich street/strip drag racing tires.
And then have some fun trying to put the interior back in it......
She should be fun though!!
Good luck with yours! You are definately on the right board, there is a wealth of information here, it just takes some time researching it all.
