92 rs starter on 305

where are these things located at? how long will it take to change? someone said i ihave to take off the y pipe is this off? i bought an ac delco repacement one thanks

just a thought...its not very hard to find a starter when you look for it....
It sticks through the bellhousing...dont remember if its driver or passenger side....
Its been too long since I worked on my car.....
Good luck...its reall simple to change

its on the pass. side. like said its a really large heavy electric motor that protrudes out of the bell housing.

It won't take that long to replace. You need to raise and SAFELY support the car before anything. Its going to be on the passenger side of the engine. There are going to be a few wires going to the starter, just pay attention to how they go. Its held on there with two bolts, and thats all there is to it. And no, you don't have to remove the y pipe.
