yearly swap

I live in california and emission are tough here as you may know. So here is my question have any of you swaped in a engine that would not pass smog but when it comes time to give the car a smog test put in the old engine just for the test then after swap the other back in. This is probably not legal but what are the chances of being caught and what are the penaltys if any.

HaHa. yeah thats one way to do it. Thats like saying. HEY move to mebraska out in the middle of no-where. You should have no problem getting it inspected. Now, there is no place to race it, but were not including that.

actually.. you could clean the engine bay and the motor up real nice.. .and schedule a nice tune up when the motor goes back in............. maybe not such a bad idea after all..
