charcoal canister relocation?

Recently I relocated my charcoal canister to the inside of the nose as far forward from the radiator as possible. I did this mainly to open up space for a cold air intake.
After this relocation, my car has had an inconsistant idle and even sometimes will die at a stop. Is this do to the longer tubing I had to use to reach the canister? I also had laid the canister on its side during the process of relocation, could this have caused it to clog up some how? If you think it has anything to due with the canister and/or you have a suggestion, please let me know!!!
Thanks,
Jim

Check all of the connections to make sure there is a good seal to them. I bet the fact that it is on it's side is causing the problem. If you can, put it back where it should be but leave the extended hoses and such on there. If it doesn't crap out then you know what the problem was.
