2.8 to 350 motor mounts removal
how do i unbolt motormounts for the 2.8 me and my bro have the 2.8 in his 87 camaro ready to come out and once its out we have to put in the new v8 mounts on the chassis. How do i unbolt the mounts from the chassis i tried on my other project 88 S10 (soon to be 350) and the motor mount bolts kept spinning is it the same with camaros? I guess there is a nut in the chaissis but how do i get to it? is there a trick to it?or a special tool?

its not easy with or without the engine in the car..you have to be inventive and use alot of swivels and extensions...even harder to put the v-8 mounts in...might want to drop the a-arm and swap out the front springs for heavier v-8 springs while you are at it. Just be patient and allow yourself plenty of time.

its not that tough to get the mounts out. a box end 15mm wrench, and a wiggly socket, and a deep well 15mm socket is about all you need. it took me about 35-40 minutes to swap the old mounts off and put the V8 mounts in. when you are going back together, use some tape and wrap around the nut so it wont fall out of the box end wrench. IMO its not worth dropping the A arms, you will spend alot more time doing that, and messing with the coil springs than you will getting the nuts out. no its not super easy, but if it was kids would be doing the stuff we are doing. hope this helps.
well i understand its not easy... but my and my brother would be considered "kids" and we are still doing it. We recently acquired a 88 S10 and we managed to take the entire thing apart, the body off of the frame, and remove the engine in 3 days. Right now he is chopping the top, while i am doing work on the camaro I bought last wednesday, i got it for 650 because the engine was shot, so im swapping the 2.8 with a 350 or 383 as soon as i sell my jeep. But just because we are 18 and 16 year old "kids" dosnt mean we cant do it :P

taking apart is the easy part....putting in the 350 is where it gets tough.....everything that connects to the motor needs to be changed or modified. It is best to have a v-8 donor car right there with you , or plan on many trips to the JY or parts store. It would be cheaper and alot more practical to buy a v-8 car and put the 383 in that.
