2.8 MPFI to 355 TPI Harness Question
Someones got to help me! I have a 1987-1988 2.8 MPFI RS and I'm swapping in a 355 with a TPI on it. The enginge block is from a 1989 trans-am and the heads are late model center-bolts, in case it matters. The ECM is from a 1986 mass airflow unit and I was told it is the same on all mass air camaros.
My problem is with the wiring harness. Apparently, GM, in their wisdom, made changes to their wiring harnesses every year from 1986 on up
So now, my mechanic calls me and says that my 2.8's fuel injection harness is intertwind with the chasis harness and can't really be separated!
SO, WHAT THE HELL SHOULD I DO!! I haven't seen it myself, but he said something about a bulkhead and that it gets split and one portion goes out the driver's side of the firewal and the other goes out the passanger side.
I thought that the chasis harness and the TPI harness are separate. Is their a Company that has a solve for this problem?
What have you guys that have gone through this madness done?
My mechanic said that if we can't find the proper wiring harness to buy, the alternative would be to search-out each wire and figure it out by hand which will cost me an arm, a leg and an ear.
I would like my TPI to work as well as my gauges, lights, wipers, radio, signals, air conditioning ...etc...
SO PLEASE HELPPPP!!!
