Motor Mounts?
Motor Mounts?
Ok, here it goes.
I took my carbed 2.8 V6 out of my 84 SC Camaro. I got a 85 Z28 and took the 350 out of that. That was also carbed. I took the 85 Z28 to the junkyard and by now it is gone. Now I have the 350 almost rebuilt and I am working on the motor mounts now.
I searched and couldn't find nothing.
Please, step by step would someone tell me how to remove the motor mounts from the stock V6 location or how to get them out without taking the frame or whatever apart. I know it is possible but I just can't figure it out.
Another thing, will I need new mounts or will the V6 frame mounts bolt up to the 350 engine mounts? I would also like to know exactly where to move them or bolt them up for the 350. Any pictures? It would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a picture of the passenger side motor mount location for the 350 (or even 305). I hope you can make it out. Notice one corner hangs over the front.
It took me ages to get my old mounts off the X-member! If that's what you mean. A combination of extensions, spanners, thin hands, lots of swear words and an air gun did it! You just have to get inside the X-member at the side of the lower control arms.
I am pretty sure the V6 motor mounts are different to the V8 ones, but I will check.
Andy.

I hear ya about pulling them, to keep it all intact and make it easier, it'll take more work granted but pull the bottom of the A arm out and walla easy access, now me, I like big tools, torches and welders, really make life easy, MAC tool air hammer sheared off the bolts, welder installed new mounts, 15 minutes and I was outta there, *** willing it should be a LONG time, long after me anyways, before the new poly mounts would ever have to be changed. Next car I build will be solid mounts all the way!

Yep, the lower mounts are a lot easier to get out if the A-Arms are off. I did mine when I swapped the motor in December.
I used the Moroso Solid Steel Mounts. Never replace them again.
Vibration is not much increased and engine stays where it's supposed to be. Shifter doesn't wiggle around at idle either.
