v6 to v8 with T56
O.k., before everyone goes into the "just buy a v8" car speech (which is very valid) I don't like automatics, so I want a t-56 (seems like the only really manual trans that can hand serious HP) and it seems to me that it'd be just as easy to swap a 5.7L with a T-56 into my 88 camaro than it would be to buy an IROC and then swap the trans and have to rebuild the motor. My question is, would I do better to try and swap over a whole LT1 setup with trans, engine, ecm, etc. or getting an L98 and a T-56 and what not? Which would be more cost effective? I'm wanting to stick with port fuel injection, so a carb swap isn't an option either. Also, would I be better off trying to buy a crate engine as opposed to a used engine? I'm wanting to possibly go forced induction after I get the engine in. So I'm not real big on having to yank the engine back out to rebuild it to handle a good amount of boost. Oh, this also has to be a smog legal swap (as if it wasn't enough of a hassle already
) as well. Would I just be better off financing a 98 Z28? Thanks, Joe
