LT!-swap/tranny question

i am putting a '95 LT1 in my '92 Z28. i was gonna use the stock 700R4 til i destroyed it or got some money. i was pulling the stock 5.0, trusting that my friend took all the tranny bolts out like he said. he was wrong and i broke the bell housing. my questions are to follow:
what is a 4L60E?
What is a 4L80 E?
what is approximate cost of these?
what does it take to swap them in?
what tranny would u install?
money could be an issue, i already blew most of my wad on headers, etc.
please help me.

Ok

The 700r4 is the same as 4L60
4L60E is the electronic version of the same tranny and it has different kevlar clutch plate and different valve body.

Now the 4L80E is a tranny made out of the TH400. it has an overdrive and a bulletproof belhousing. The 4L80E needs an external computer to control your shift point since it is not using the standard hydrolic valve body. TCI makes a computer for that, it's expensive.

a 4L80E comes from large truck (from what I think) like 2500 and 3500.

4L60E is from camaro, bird, roadmaster, cady, corvette, roadmaster and I think a few editions of Z71 trucks.

I would stick with the 4L60E, it's pretty strong and it can take lot of abuse. Altought if you're thinking about massive horsepower 600-1000+ and you will redo both tranny anyway, maybe the 4L80e is for you.
