Hey guys I started to take apart my 350 motor in my garage. I got everything off it except for the damper, crank, cam, timing chain, and pistons and rods. Well since this is my first time I got down to this and said ok ill just take out the pistons and rods first then take out the crank and the rest. Well some of the bolts are hidden so I'd try and turn the crank but it won't budge. I know that one cyclinder is a little rusted up but theres only 3 actual pistons left
Any tricks or the right wayto do this?

if you got 5 of the other pistons out whats stopping the others?? Are you keeping everything in order? such as which main cap goes where? or are you gonna align hone the crank? But if you already got 5 pistons out , and all the main caps off you may need to tap on the end of the rod bolt with a peice of wood to push it out the cylinder, just be carefull not to hit the crank.

 

if you have a stuck piston take all out you can, then take the cap off the stuck piston and drive it out with a BFH and block of wood. good chance you'll break the piston, but you can replace them for less than 200 dollars and if you bore it you'll need new pistons anyway. make sure you number everything and match mark the caps and rods.

 

No see my problem is that the nuts are hidden to get at so I need to rotate the crank to get the rod cap nuts off but it wont rotate. Should I bang on the top of the pistons to get it to move? Once I move it like 45 degrees Ill be all set just have to get it to move

 

Take the main bearing caps off and move the crank somewhere that it doesn't obscure the bolts.

 

Ok I have the main caps off already. Its just that maybe the pistone is seized so much that it won't budge at all? Can I knock it down from the top to move the crank? I won't be using these pistons again.

 

Yes, you can do that. You can also just lift the crank out and move it over to the side, or whatever. It's going to have to be turned anyway.

You might want to try soaking the cylinder walls from both sides with some brake fluid and ATF, or some really strong penetrating oil (not WD-40). Make sure you get plenty of it all over the piston skirts, rings, etc.
