Long term storage for my new 383
Long term storage for my new 383
I had a 383 installed in my 92 RS about 8 months ago. Up until 4 months ago, I was able to run it occaisionally. I had a fuel delivery problem, so I removed the gas tank. While my tank is out, I am going to POR-15 the under carrage, and numerous rear and tranny work.
My question is this: Is there anything special I need to do to my motor, as it will probably be sitting for at least 6 more months without being started?

i have heard of misting the cylinders which is is spraying some wd40 in the spark plug holes and cranking the engine acouple times to prevent rust. put a cap on the carb to keep dirt out. u might want to drain all your fluids but for 6 months i dont think it will be that bad. that is all i can think of.
Thanks for the info. I don't think my motor will be out of commission for 6 more months, I was trying to be conservative. I have a mechanical fuel pump on the block, so if worse comes to worse, I can run a line into my gas can, and run it that way.
