TBI v TPI
Hi, i have a few questions.
I know that tpi is better than tbi stock(assuming same engine size and all else being the same). But which has more potential in the long run to be more powerful(like after adding aftermarket parts)? how much more does tpi cost to upgrade? what about dropping in 350's or even crate motors?
I know an ok amount about cars, but i know i love my camaro and im saving lots of money up. I dont know if i should just get a 305 z28 or just invest in the 305 rs i got right now. I just recently put an open element with a k&n on my car (the extra power was really easy to see ) and its makin me rethinking selling my rs.
Any info anybody can offer would be helpful, thanx

I've watched a certain TPI-based 400 SBC in an '89 Vette for the last couple of years run low 11's (here - in Topeka, he ran mid-10's). In late August (Bandimere High Altitude Bracketnationals), he was running in two series, going round-robin from about eighth finals on. Ended up champion in one series, runner-up in the other. He wasn't even opening the hood between rounds, just kept running his number.
I don't know that I've ever seen a TBI car do that. Has anybody else?

It depends on how much power you wanna make and how much you wanna spend. I have a 350 with tbi making over 300hp, but once you get much over that, tbi greatly limits the possibilities.
Tpi is a lot more expensive, but if you plan on later supercharging or trying to make 400hp+, you're gonna need the tpi for sure.
As for me, I'm happy with the reliable tbi making twice as much power as the stock 305 did, since it's my daily driver.
If I feel like I need to drag race, I have a carbureted 454 in a 70 nova.
