v6 to v8 tranny question
v6 to v8 tranny question
I am putting a v8 (350) into a ' 84 v6 berlinitta. (Spare me the warnings, it's a circle track car so I have to change everything anyway-springs, wiring etc.)
I would prefer to run a manual tranny, but have not read anything positive about the strength of the manual trans they used in the 3rd gens, so I think I've settled on a 350. Now, do I have to find one with the 9-inch tailshaft or can I get one with a 6-inch and buy the torque arm/crossmember adapter? I haven't been able to find a post that clearly answers this.
Also, what about a driveline for either the 6-inch or 9-inch? What model/year would I need?
Thanks!!

If you use the 6in one you'll need the torque arm bracket (Summit about $75.00) and you'll need a driveshaft from an 82 Firebird that had a 2004r tranny, or you can have a driveshaft made. IIRC, the 9in will bolt right in. (if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will let us know
