2.5L to 5.7L swap
2.5L to 5.7L swap
Hey all.
I have a friend who sadly totalled his 3rd Gen Trans Am. It has a 350 engine and transmission that runs great. I'm going to buy the entire car from him, cheap, to do a swap, which I've never done before.
The way I understand, is that I will not have to spend much if I have all of the parts I need from the Trans Am, to do an engine swap on my 1984 Firebird, with a regular, slow, 2.5L engine.
Is there anything else I will need? and how long does it take to swap an engine?

well theres lots of people here thats done it, i'm sure you could perform a search and that would help.unless you want to remove the wiring harness , i would lokk into making it a carbed car/. would be allot easier to work on. on how long- that depends on you , your friends, your money and your patience.

Time is the main thing you looking at.
No one can probably give you an exact time, because in every swap there is always that bolt that twists off at the wrong moment, or that part that you thought was good has crapped out on you.
I would say make sure you have a weekend clear, and an auto parts store in the area so you can get parts if you need them.
