I dont think DD is very accurate. I did a copy of my 305 and it said I should be putting out 250hp. On a 305 with headers and exhaust.

the program gives good ball park figures, however, when i try to input the data from my cam (very radical grind) the DD wont allow me to use the values i put in, when i change the IVC and EVC degrees it would automatically change other numbers regardless of what i did, so in some cases it just wont work

to get a more realistic on the cam use .050 not seat to seat. and get the info for the ivo,evo etc... from comp cams web site. that will give you the actual cam. the goto tools and double check the lobe centerline.

thats what i did dude, right off the cam card itself.....the program logic must disagree with the values for this cam......i did use the .050 values, which i also got off the cam card

that is strange think it did the same thing when i was trying to figure out my comp nitrous cam. the degrees was off when i entered the stats. best of luck

also try the dart iron eagle 200cc heads i think they out flow the 220 until .500 lift if i am not mistaken.

nope, there isnt a cylinder head onthe market right now that will outflow the AFR's (of comparable port size) especially at low and mid lift, and even when a severely ported head that flowed better on the flowbench was tested against the AFR's (article was in CHP i think) it produced 30 more HP...this was attributed to its extremely efficient port design, and high velocities within the ports. Thats with the regular AFR's too i believe, mine are the 210cc fully cnc ported competition heads. check out the charts of heads that were flow tested in CHP including the dart iron eagles. Its on AFR's site, and i have the magazine kicking around here someplace too.....

lift AFR 210CC Dart iron eagle

.200 140 129
.300 197 182
.400 240 226
.500 271 258

i was refering to your dyno that has the dart 220 not the afr's. i havent dont done much research on the afr only dart, world, trick flow. i know afr's are more expensive though. i am using iron head for the street. nice intake man.

Dave-

The best thing any speed shop is going to be able to do for you is ESTIMATE the power of a certain combo or of an additional part. If you build two engines with the EXACT same parts and methods they won't make the exact same power, granted they might be close. DD 2000 is just another way of ESTIMATING what certain parts will do to your power curve.

Don't get me wrong, you can't and shouldn't take these numbers to the bank. The fact of the matter is though, DD 2000 is more creditable than the minimum wage register worker at NAPA. Belive it or not, actual 'automotive and computer engineers' put this program together, that's a llot more than I can say about most 'speed shops'.

I am not trying to flame anyone, I just think people expect to much from DD 2000, and then get pizzed when it doesn't produce what they want.

Looks like your account won't accept mail of this caliber. If you really want it just open up a yahoo account and shoot the address to me, they'll allow it.

napa= parts store not a speed shop

i dont know what speed shops your dealing with maybe u got bad experience or something.usually speed shops have alot years of building engines.the ones i deal with have at least 30-40 years in business i doubt they would steer me in the wrong direction.

You got me. Every time I send my car to any shop it gets returned to me with something else broken. I can yak your ear off on the subject, but I'll spare you the ranting.

My point is that DD2000 is just for estimating the characteristics of different combos, ones that maybe you (or your speed shop) haven't already had the experince of running. I don't know about you but I am not about just copying something that I've seen or run before, that's just too easy.

DD 2000's a toy not a tool, but that doesn't make it a bad thing.
