carb brackets?

I am planning on changing my CFI 305 Z to a 350 carbed motor. I am aware that I will need a number of things. Will a 72 block fit my 83 flexplate? Is it possible to get/fabricate ac/smog delete pulleys? Where can I locate the throttle return spring and brackets? Can I use them from any carbureated car, or do I need to find a camaro? With the brackets and springs from a q-jet camaro work with a holley? Thank you for your time.

the flexplate should work, provided they have the same amount of teeth on them, GM made 2 versions, a 153 and a 168 tooth.
the actuall size changed in 87 I think, so if your originall flexplate is on a block with a 2 peace rear seal, it will go with any 2 peace rear seal block(pre 87)

with regards to the brackts,

the originall quadrajet brakets may work, may not.
I went with an aftermarket piece from spectra, or maybe its spectrum? Edelbrock also makes an excellent piece, and originally I used this, but for whatever reason, I couldnt get enough travell with my TV cable, so it wouldnt adjust properly.
if you can, get the Edelbrock, the Spectrum unit is flimsy and I have to adjust the TV cable every couple weeks.
the return spring can be purchaed for a couple bucks from NAPA or another auto parts store, you can mount it where its most convienient.

I dont know about the pulleys, do you have a serpintine setup?
if so, the GM makes an AC delete pulley, and you can get a smaller belt to delete the SMOG pump. I disconneced all the smog pump stuff but the puley is still there, so its just shooting out air into nothing.

Thank you Joshua. I think Holley makes a bracket as well as Edelbrock. Im not sure how much they cost tho. If I find another car/truck with a Holley, will the brackets from that work, or do they have to be for a camaro? Thank you again.

its a good bet, that any bracket from a small block chevy will work on a small block chevy, if its an aftermarket intake.
I dont know about the quadrajet intake, if the brackets are compatible.
