Engine Building Books
Engine Building Books
Hey guys,
Looks like I am going to be rebuilding my engine soon, and while it looks pretty straight-forward, I know that I am going to forget something, and my new engine will go down the ****ter. Anyways, can anybody recommend a good book for rebuilding a SBC with step by step instructions?
Thanks,
-Max

not exactly what you asked for but if you dont have all your go fast parts chosen yet, a great book for info is John Lingenfelter's book its called somethin like "Building a performance SBC"
i know thats not the title, its sorta similar.
ive learned some good stuff from the book.

Car Craft did a "Build your First Engine" section this month, and one of the books the have pictured, I'm assuming that they're endorsing is called Chevrolet Power They also recomended going to the dealership and purshasing a service manual. That should tell you the info. (I recomend having a couple of friends around that know what they're doing...)
I actually found a decent manual at Pep Boys. It's a Haynes (which surprised me b/c the Haynes I have for my car sucks!) But this book covers all the tools, engine removal, disassembly, machine work, and reassembly. I just put my first motor together and used this book in conjunction with my factory service manual and I had all of the info I needed.
