Crate engines?

what are your guys take on crate engines from GM?

i was looking into rebuilding my L98 into a 4 bolt 383 but after the cost of everything it seems like the more reasonable offer would be to pick up a crate engine.

i've been particularly looking into the fastburn 385. anyone know anything about these?

i'm looking for 11's with an ati procharger. i've been told this motor with the right intake is good for 450 horses.......any truth to that?

i appreciate any info you guys could give me!

I'm sure you will check my other post but with the ATI and a miniram, i see no problems with 11s, at all! Probally even a Stealth Ram, maybe a Super Ram with enough tuning any of them would be doable. Even if you were to run like 6lbs of boost, that would be plenty. Call up Scoggin-Dickey for more of a "confirmation" on the info i give, b/c i am going on what i have been told by them last year. And the truth about the hp issue, i was told that when TPIS used their, i believe ZZ9 cam and the fastburn set up with the miniram, produced 460hp and 435lbs/ft. I am hoping for similar results, we'll see. Later

that's what i was looking at.

tpis cam with 1.6 rockers and then a 9-12 lbs of boost with twin intercoolers and some N20 to keep em cool

what do you think?

i'm hoping for a solid 600/600 with mid - low 11's....possible or no?

Anything is possible really, with tuning that is. I really have no experience in this. From what i understand though, you can run 9lbs of boost safely on most stock bottom ends. You would have to check with the S/C company if this applies to the ZZ4. It can hold a lot but i would think after the 12lbs of boost and a shot, i'm guessing a 75 shot or higher, of N2O would cause some damage after a while. Now, 600 to the wheels!?!?, i don't know, probally will depend on how much you spray but even with 500 to the wheels and the proper suspension, you will be an 11 sec car all day. I checked the power adder forum yesterday and did not see a thread from you, maybe you can post one and ask. But i would call a company like ATI and Scoggin-Dickey and see what they say about their products. When i am ready i will call and get some info for myself but right now i am done dreaming! I just want my car to run with the parts i have already, its been a while. When i get some more cash i will take a step foward, but for now my next step is to just get it running again. Later
