drivers side dipstick
i just had my 305 swapped for a 79 350 from a 3/4 ton truck. i am having a problem getting the dipstick to work. i really dont haev the money for headers so i got a lokar flexible dipstick wich didnt work. what can i do? i am still using the stock 305 exhaust, manifolds and all. also having problem with it running really hott, anybody know how hott they are supposed to run? thanks
There has to be a fairly simple work around, short of plugging the dipstick hole and running without one. I'm thinking cheap headers if I can't find any better suggestions.

thats the only thing i can think of, some headers that fit into the stock y pipe, they have some on ebay usually, between 45-120 bucks. dont plug the hole, thats what i did and i didnt know it was blowing oil out of the back of the valve covers untill my car filled up with smoke and overheated. and dont use a lokar flexible dipstick unless you have headers. also found out the hard way. i guess bad luck is better than no luck
