removing vats on 96 corvette lt4
removing vats on 96 corvette lt4
just want to know what i got to do or if someone programs pcm(computers) and remove the passkey or vats what ever it is
all my wiring is done, motor, t56, cooling and air conditioning is done, no cutting welding, swap went smooth, forth gen rear end installed this past weekend, with some suspension goodies, and i have taken about 400 pics of the step during the install.
i talked to fis.com and they want 300.00 to remove the vats from my comp.
i'm not payin that when i know there is some one out there that would like a hundred to do it

150 bux to reprogram just the vats out, what a rip, the software to do it yourself can be had for that much,
topher- Not sure if this is the exact one as jegs has had their part numbers messed up on these for quite a while, but im quite sure they fixed it, heres what you need.

Sorry was suggesting pcmforless with a simple reprogram but didn't notice that it was a 96 OBD 2. My Mistake. You can convert to obd 1 though if you want. Little more pricey though.

Let Z28racer do it for you since he seems to know it all.
You can't buy OBD2 software for $150 anywhere.
You can't add a gizmo to the wiring on a Corvette PCM since they use serial data VATS.
I was just trying to help.

the pcm has a non removable chip, reprogramable only. this is what i'm running a 96 lt4 330hp from a vette, 95 t56, spd crossmember, the nice thing about the lt4 vette motor is that the a.c. is located on the driver side of the engine, no frame notching was required, i had the engine installed in three hours, minus the time pullin the old 305 and t5, the only trouble so far is the VATS removal and the a.c. i had the corvette hose modified at a local a.c. shop, just had new fitting clamped on is all. other than that i just finished up installing a 96 rear end with 3.42 gears, other than that i have to find a prop valve to help the brakes work properly. can't wait to find the right price to get this vats removed and have it programmed for tire size and gears if possible
total cost so far 5519.97, don't wanna go over 6000.00
i also have about 150 picture of intervals in the swap, cant show them now because i dont have a usb port on the computer to download the pics for everyone to see
