well i'm fed up with the idea of ever tryin to finish this project, i got close but not close enough, i refuse to pay all that money to purchase lt1.edit software and cable for obd2 type pcm, just to do propertuning and removing the vats, its nice to know that i wasted alot of time and money on something that i'll never get to drive, well the lt4 and t56 make a nice garage orniment, oh well should of bought a lt1 prior to 96 out of a camaro instead of the so called easy fix of a lt4 only because the accesories were on the driver side. this **** sucks
5700 wasted in faith of having a hot rod

Why not just research the OBD II to obdI swap, most f body ppl can swap to the other computer by just changing a knock sensor and a few small other changes, or get an OBD I harness and pcm with the vats module, sell your LT4 stuff, then get the obd I LT1edit.
i think you can by the painless vats bypass module and install it, that should remove the vats. The packet that I have said it will eben remove the vats on 98-02 LS1's and that is OBDII so look into that just before you quit
Sorry for my comments but I found that pretty retard that you bought an LT4 for 5700$$$
and that you're giving it up for an 8 wire module .
Ask us any questions you would like and we will answer you and we will solve your problems .
If you were able to spend 5700, why not buy a 120$ module and plug it correctly ?

Hang in there. I understand your frustration. My three week LS1 swap is going on four months. There are always set backs. Believe me. I have had my share and am not giving up.
You can buy a VATS simulation module or have your PCM professionally reprogramed.
The LT4 produces awesome power and will be well worth the effort in the long run.

yeah man, dont give up. im not doing such a tough swap, 95 LT1 in a 92, and my car has been dpwn since august. good things come to those who wait. ive spent as much as you and im not giving up, i just get help. youll get there.
GMPP no longer produces the LT4 carb intake.
Solutions to the LT4 programming problems....
1) find someone with a business version of LT1 Edit who can help you out
2) talk to Cartek
3) borrow someone else's LT1 Edit wire for an afternoon and buy your own base version of LT1 Edit
4) Tunercat
5) VATS defeat module
6) go to Radioshack and buy one resistor of every rating.... probably run you $20 or less. Test each one until you find the one that works for your VATS coding...... that's basically what the VATS defeat module is/does. Its a box w/ various resistors in it.
7) get OBD-I wiring+PCM
8) get Painless Wiring kit
9) fire it up and drive it hard!!!!!

Dont give up. The way you got to look at it, is by working on one thing till it gets done. Dont try to outthink jobs. If you do, they will beat you everytime.
One more piece of advice. Do it right the first time, or do it wrong 5 times. Its better to pay more for parts that makes life easy.
