My 305's time is up. Does anyone know where i can get a new GM L98 (5l.7L) that were in the GTA's in 87? Or maybe even a replacement GM 305. I'm tryin to keep it all GM.

Take a look at a wrecking yard, they usually have a bunch that just need some TLC (or a rebuild)

So far it has over 25k miles and runs great.
You can use your 305 intake, but you'll need bigger injectors.

rich is that engine fast? im looking for a engine and saw this one before but i wonder if its got enough power do you have any times? could you list any kills you have? i have a 350tpi right now im looking for more power though im just trying to find out if it will make my bird fly.

 

I haven't got an et slip yet, as my transmission's been on it's way out for a few months (T5) and the nearest drag strip is a couple hours drive (tow bill would kill me), but hope to have one this spring.
Just installed Tremec TKO a few weeks ago.
The car's a blast to drive now, as it originally came with a 170 hp tbi 305 / 5 speed with non-posi 3.08 gear.
Now with above mentioned crate motor and 3.73 posi, I have no troubles with new 4.6 Cobras or stock 5.0 mustangs.
(haven't come up against a supercharged one yet)
Actually, the only Mustang I've run against so far (on the street) that I had trouble with was an early 90's 351 Cobra R.

You'll need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, a custom chip and good exhaust to get the most out of it.
I got 317 hp at 4500 and 399 ft/lbs at 2500 (flywheel-not rwhp) before installing it.
Certainly not the hottest car around, but a respectable and reliable daily driver for sure.

wow that motor sounds good keep killing those stangs bro. i allready have the exhaust and the afpr all i need is the chip. how did you come up with those nubers did you have it dinoed? it seems that engine exceeds its rated 300hp numbers and 400 for torque is awsome if this is true i maybe interested i will just add a better intake and headers and i should get 350 horse hopefully let me know what you think.

 

Was able to fire it up to check for leaks and dial the timing on a dyno at a shop my friend works at.
These #'s are with the smog pump, etc hooked up, same headers that are in the car, and a single 3" Flowmaster (with 3" cat).
Also this is with a modified tbi setup.
With tpi I'm sure it would probably do better.
