whats the best engine?

i have a 305 4 barrel carbed 87 lt camaro. i want more hp and more torque. you guys all seem very smart when it comes to engine swaps so....what is the best way....money wise and power wise to upgrade. should i find a used camaro motor like L98, LT1 or LS1 or would it be cheaper and better to find a 350 block and put my own performance parts? im fairly new to engine stuff. so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Moneywise it would be better to build an L98. LT1 and LS1 swaps are more expensive, however they are more tunable and produce more efficient power.

I had a 88 Formula 350 (L98) and it was a beast. Compared to my 305 TPI it was a completely different car.
