can the 305 manual tranny handle a 350?

hey guys, i am going to be putting a v8 350 in a 305 manual camaro, right now im shopping for the project car trying to find all the desireable qualitys like the big posi rear end with 3.73 gears and all wheel disc brakes. what i really want to know is if i do put a 350 in a 305 manual will the tranny be able to handle the power of a 350?? I plan on changing the tranny eventually i just want to know if i'll be able to drive around with the same tranny for a while. thanks for your time guys.

It's up to you and how you drive. GM never put the T5 behind a 350 because they knew it wouldn't hold up.

you should be able to drive it for a while, like Stephen 87 IROC said it all depends on how you drive it..

Drive it like you own it. Don't abuse it and it will last.

put the borg warner 83mm 4 speed in, and beat the snot
out of it !
i don't have a 350 in my z yet, but the 305 that is in it now
has some nuts, and it takes everything i throw at it.
my only advise is: if you beat it, be prepared to fix it

Like Z28DJP said, drive it like you own it... but save your green for a T56. If your "project car" will be used for steet/strip then I'd be prepared to buy a T56 sooner rather than later.
