s10 xtreme 350 can it be done????
my buddy has rode in my car many times and loves the rumble of a v-8. the only problem is he likes s-10 xtremes
there are nothing wrong with these i like them too, my question is can a 350 motor like mine be put into a 1999-2002 xtreme?? i think that would be an ultimate ride for him b/c he loves power and trucks. also he is considering fuel injection or a carb?? he's not sure which to go with
thank you all.

Try your question at www.s10forum.com. They also have a forum about engine swaps.
lol sorry i forgot to add my comment about the s10...im not familiar with the s10 engine bay...but i would imagine u could do a 350 but u would also need new transmission and rear end and also maybe modify your bay...im sayin this because i had a ranger that had a 4.0 in it and looked like there was alot of room left over but i guess u should ask someone else who knows trucks...altogether tho the process could be costly if u dont do it all yourself
I think that a smallblock into an S10 is a fairly common swap. Common enough that jegs sells headers made specifically for that application. I would imagine that all the typical swap considerations must be taken - ie tranny, motor mounts, fuel, etc. Just my 2c.

u should be able to swap a v8 into any s10, u gotta use some parts from corvettes , forgot which parts though. but my friend in skool finished his 406 sbc swap into his 92 s10. came out pretty sweet too.

Which motor does he have now? If it is the 4.3 it has the same bellhousing bolt pattern. That means that he should be able to bolt up to his existing transmission. If it is anything else he will need a new tranny.

There was an S-10 for sale down the road from me a couple weeks back. It had a 350 in it. It was the older body style, but i doubt the engine bay is much different.

Lingenfelter makes a 427 twin turbo s-10; granted, he has tons of money behind him and unlimited resorces but if he can fit all that into an s-10 then your friend should be able to put a 350 into his...now, wether or not he has room to perform routine maintenance is a whole nother story.

It would be sweet to do it. Drop in a LS6 and T56 and go wipe some Lightning ***. It would handle decent also.

that and s-10's have an impressive power to weight ratio...you wouldn't think it, but my friend used to have a 92 (older body style) that tipped the scales at 2750 with him in it

since i'm assuming that your friend has a 4.3L in it now....it would be worth doing the swap i "Guess".....if he has the 4 banger, well then sell his truck since the cost would be too huge.
now how fast does he want to go? My friend has a 11.60 S10....using the 4.3L engine with some bolts ons and NO2.
Now if he wants all motor i'm hoping my truck will be the low 13s soon with the 4.3L v6 motor in my 98 S-10 SS.
On the other hand, I can give you the number of a guy I know in Indiana that turbocharges the 4.3L and will put you in the 10s on pump gas, daily driven. He owns his own shop called Power Concepts, Inc. Although it all depends on $$$$. On today's v6 vortec motors I don't see the swap being that big of a necessity any more. There is more than enough technology out there to get the newer v6s going more than quick enough. Bare in mind that the 4.3L v6 engine is a 350 motor with the back two cylinders chopped off, so everything that works on a 4.3L will also work on a 350, just 2 less parts needed. If any more info is needed for your friend on what to do to his truck, PM me.
