Engine Swap help??
Engine Swap help??
Whats going on everyone. Well the time has come, I have my doner car, and they are sitting side-by-side, now what!?! I'm trying to take out my 88 rs, V6, tpi and swap in a 84 ber. v8 TBI. Now, I'm not a total novice, the 305 has been pulled and rebuilt and the Acc. put back on, now my problem is, after the springs are changed out and I place the new mounts, I'm at a loss. I know I need to swap out the fuel pump, and change the harness, but I'm not sure what is involved with it all. (Namly the harness hook-ups and the computer changes. Now in the real world I'm an aircraft electronics tech, not I know all about electricity, but I'm not at all familiar with the car's computer and the inner workings of the system). Could anyone with the hands-on walk me through it barney style? I've been putting it off for too long. Thanks!

Something's not right here. There was no V8 TBI in '84. CC carb, yes. TBI 4-cyl, yes. But no '84 V8 TBI (unless a previous owner swapped it in).
You don't really need to understand what everything does to do the swap. Take pictures of both before you take anything apart, change over everything that is different between the two (including the tach). That's "all" there is to it.
