engine builder 101

Hey guys.. me again... the day when I buy the new engine is drawing pretty close, my choice is made and I'm gonna get a 350 after all. Now, what I'm gonna do, or think of doing is this: I'm gonna buy a brand new block, which come with crank, pistons and the likes but I need to set on a cam, heads, manifolds. Well all the dressings, now my question is this: I never played into an engine, but is it hard for a newbie to set all those add-ons when the engine is out or should I just buy a whole engine to be on the safe side?

thanks

Do you own a torque wrench? Have a manual for the car, or at least can find the torque sequence for the heads?

If this is your first time, might leave that to someone with experience, or at least have a knowledgeable friend help. Bolting up an intake is pretty easy, heads arent really much harder but you do need to follow the 'rules' with the sequence and stuff. Armed with a book, tools, and some common sense though, its pretty simple stuff.
