305 Cfi
305 Cfi
Well I recenlty had to sell my 85 Iroc, so I am in the realm of looking at another Camaro.
Yesterday I saw an 83 Z-28, white, looked to be in good condition. I was hoping for a 305 H.O. but when I looked at the
Z-28 badging I saw the most dreaded badging, CFI. I was aghast, it had a Cross-fire injection.
My question is what do I need to do to convert to 350 carb.

Why "dreaded"? Misunderstood, perhaps. Vettes got 350 CFI.
Be "different", go 350 CFI.

hehe...umm..i needed the following tools.
bfh{big fuggin hammer} <for the cfi once its out
hacksaw > for the wiring harness and stupid crap you wont need
invite a buddy over...and get the alchohol of choice..and rip into it. i disabled my intank pump, added a mechanical pump, once the motors in...all it needs it +12 volts keyed to the ignition..and she'll run great.

Im in the process of doing just that swap, and im not a big fan of CFI either missunderstood or no. Youre gonna need a fair amount from what i understand. Engine, accessories, and carb. Most accessories, etc will swap over. You'll need braided fuel line, fittings, a 3 port afpr if you want to keep your in tank pump (if its old just toss it and use a mech. pump). Youll need an air cleaner, a non CC distributor, and you'll probably want new valve covers, etc unless your engine comes with them, headers and a catback are also a good idea. After that, its a matter of putting it together right. Wish me luck, hah.
