335 stroker kit
While looking around for a new engine I found a 335-stroker kit. Just never seen it anywhere else except for at POWERHOUSE, not saying its crap or anything, I just wounding if anybody else has used or herd of this kit before? The claim is 90 HP (carb) / 115 HP (fi) increase if, you where to use PH product, to me 115 HP increase of just changing the stroke/bore and increasing the compression to 10:1, seems a little much. PH said this kit was featured in a car that made it into Super Chevy (March 99’); just order the article, should be here in two weeks, any ideas on this. The kit cost $599
www.enginekits.com
"This kit includes KB Hypereutectic (5.7 Rod) Pistons NO Extra charge! KB Hypereutectic Pistons 10:0 compression (using 58cc heads) 9:4 compression (using 64cc heads); street strip rings; CR1 5.7 rods Rod bearings; main bearings; Gasket set (2pc. seal/carb.) to '84 includes Brand New 335 Stroker Crank Only $599 (flywheel add $100)
Options: (using 2pc. seal new crank) Balance;
- New Flex plate; New Balancer Add $199
(Using 1pc. seal new crank) Balance; New Late Flex Plate,
New Balancer (fuel Inj. Gasket set or carb.) Add $269
-CR3 Rods w/ ARP Bolts Add $45
-Moly Rings Add $20
-New stock flywheel 1pc seal crank Add $145"
This comes from straight from their catalog. I planed on modifying their kit a bit with the use of forged pistons and Total Seal brand piston rings. Playing around on Desk Top Dyno I can make around 350HP / 450ftlbs, before 125 shot of N2O. i would do a search but it has been disabled.

DD puts my combo at 360 HP @ 6000 RPMs. Demonstrated performance with NHRA sea-level conversion factor figures out to ~250 to the rear wheels. On a stock factory 140K+ bottom end.
It takes a lot more than their stroker kit to produce the HP gains they advertise. The just "forgot" to mention that.
Forget the 335. For less money, you can rebuild a 350, even if you have to buy the builder block. Which will require less machining, no special flexplate or damper, and have 20 more cubes.

There's a thread on this subject going on over on the main tech board right now, with a bunch of people who conveniently leave out little details like that, trying to tell us all about what a great motor it is.... see my posts for some facts and comparisons. Ignore the comments about how cheap and easy it is to stick a stockk 400 crank & rods in a 305 block, they are uninformed... typical optimisitc BS from people who haven't done it or even thought it all the way through.
For less than that $599 you can buy a core 350 short block and build it up, for several hundred dollars less than turning your "free" 305 into a 335.
