NE1 bought a ZZ "partial engine"?
NE1 bought a ZZ "partial engine"?
I know there's quite a few on this board who have a ZZ4. But...has anyone bought the ZZ "partial engine" from say like...gmpartsdirect? If so...what heads, intake, cam did you or would you select? Just trying to get some ideas for my 83 Z later on this year. One more ?....will a quadrajet work on a ZZ4? Need to keep my emissions going.
Thanks,
Brandon

I just got my ZZ short block yesterday. I think they are a pretty good deal, forged crank, forged rods, and 4 bolt mains. If only they had forged pistons too.
I am going with pro topline 200cc iron heads, with comp cams XE 224/230, and the Holley stealth ram intake. Should make some power.
I would not use the stock 305 heads, a little too much compression for iron heads. The valves are also too small.

I dunno... the 416 casting heads that came on most 305s and i think L98 350s were good heads because of the 58cc chambers, which will probably bring you anywere from 9.5 to 10.5:1 depending on your pistons. Put in some bigger valves too.
They are plentiful, so they are dirt cheap too.
