Botling up trans after engine swap

I'm planning a swap to a 350 and I would like to know how difficult it is to do without a lift.

How hard is it to bolt up the 700R4 trans after the motor is in place. Can it be done using jackstands to lift the car?

Does anyone have any advice or tricks that make it easier to do?

I've pulled my motor 3 or 4 times and always left the tranny in the car. There's two dowl pins on the tranny that help line it up with the engine. After that I just had jackstands on the front and got under the car.

I find it easy to install the trans and engine together. If you jack up the rearend of the car and put it on stands, it makes everything even easier. You don't need a lift to do an engine swap. Bolting the trans is no problem, break out that 36" extension and a swivel socket and blast those bolts right in place.

Do it with engine and tranny together, trust me. The extra work of taking off the driveline, crossmember, etc. by far offsets all the swearing you will go through lining up that engine in the engine bay, not to mention getting all the bellhousing bolts to line up.
