Has anyone ever done or thought of....

I was wondering if anyone has ever thought of dropping a BMW engine into a camaro or firebird or if anyone has actually ever done this. Just wondering cause I heard BMW makes good engines. Thought a V12 sounded like a cool idea.

well....lol....that would be one big pain in the ***....IMO it wouldnt be worth the time, and I dont think a V-12 will fit in a 3rd Gen....

You would have to remount it, find a tranny that works with it, mount that, rerun fuel lines, and a bunch of other stuff...

I'd think the worst issue would be dealing with the electronics. Chances are, you'd have a system looking for airbags, ABS, and all sorts of other related BMW stuff, that your thirdgen doesnt have... and going haywire in the process. That is of course, unless you know someone who can reprogam the thing.

Are you, by any chance, the same guy who was asking about dropping in a Viper V10?

sorry to burst the bubble, but putting a German engine in a Camaro is a federal offense, punishable by stiff fines and jail time.
