which air filter do i need for lt1
i am planning on getting a k&n filter for my lt1 install, but i am unsure of the demensions. i know i need a 3 1/2 inch opening for the maf, but i don't know about the rest. also i'd like to move the filter away from the maf and get a better location where colder air can be sucked in. any suggestions? thanks
I dont remember the part number, but I got a universal K&N canister filter and mounted it right in front of the washer fluid tank. Its got a 3.5" opening, I think its 6" diameter, and about 9" long. I'll run out tomorrow and see what the part number is and try and get a photo of it too.
actually that was the old $5 paper element filter I got at NAPA just after we got it running. At that time we used the old a/c evaporator canister with the ends cutoff as the extension. Now I'm actually using a piece of PVC pipe painted black. You can't even tell by looking at it what it is now. I'll get a new photo today.
thanks man i'd very much appreciate it. also man i'm thinking of putting together a swap guide, so if you have any pics or information you are willing to share (before/during/after) the swap, that you wouldn't mind being on a page... let me know. of course all aknowledgement of your work or any others would be given.
ok so I didnt have a chance yesterday, I'll try again today. Yeah a swap guide would be great. I guess this weekend I'll sit down and put together the process I went through and take some photos of different mounts and stuff and we'll compare them once you get it written.

Well, my camera crapped out on me when I tried to take some photos, and it got dark before I looked at the part number. I'm leaving for spring break this afternoon so I'll get it to you tomorrow.
