I have a 1983 stock Z28 with a 305 4-barrel. I will be swapping to a 350 out of a 87 IROC, and will be putting a Holley on top. I would also like to take the computer from the donor car. I would rather go without the computer all together, but I have a Crane ignition box which requires a computer controlled distributor. So I will take the computer and distributor form the donor car. I have two questions about this, I would like to only use the computer for the distributor and that is all, and I was wondering if there are any problems with swapping in the newer computer. Also, would an aftermarket computer chip from Hypertech or JET improve the computers control over the distributor and the timing advance?
